Ecopolitic Media SRL is implementing, starting with April 2024, the project „The Prut Bridge – Romania-Moldova twinned localities”, financed by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DRRM), within the Romanian Government.
In the framework of the project, journalistic materials in the form of video and text interviews were produced on the topic of twinning and cooperation relations between some of the localities on the left and right bank of the Prut. The public will be able to follow these press products on online news platforms in the Republic of Moldova, such as: deschide.md, ziarulnational.md, the websites and facebook pages of ecopolitic.ro and pressonline.ro.
In recent years, the representatives of several towns in the Republic of Moldova have expressed their wish to have as many twinning agreements as possible with towns in Romania.
Among them is the mayor of Stefan Voda, Mr. Vladislav Cociu, who told us during the project that through such twinning, he wanted to bring Romania here, at home, mentioning also the extraordinary collaboration with the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova.
Also, Angela Ursachi, the mayor of Mateuți, emphasized that citizens are very open for new twinning, for new cooperation agreements, and appealed to the Romanian municipalities that have sufficient financial resources to share them with the municipalities of the Republic of Moldova, including the Mateuți village.
At the same time, other mayors thanked the Romanian localities with which they are twinned for their support, pointing out the benefits of twinning.
Veaceslav Cernat, deputy mayor of Ialoveni, gave an example of such a benefit: „We are twinned with the town of Tomești in Iasi County, from whose administration we received the donation of an ambulance, while from the twinning with the town of Buftea in Ilfov County, we received 20 bicycles for 4 educational institutions in the town of Ialoveni and a recreational toy train, a very nice gift for children’s entertainment, we use it for different activities and children are very happy to ride this toy train”. He also spoke about the twinning with the municipality of Pascani in Iasi county, from which Ialoveni has obtained books, money for various works. „Right at the entrance to the town of Ialoveni, on the right, we have a trophy donated by the municipality of Pascani, it is part of the town’s business card, a donation from our brothers from Pascani”, concluded Mayor Cernat.
The mayor of Răzeni, Mayor Ion Crețu, said that he has a very good relationship with the municipality of Măgurele in Ilfov County, as well as other cooperation and twinning relations with towns such as Mogoșești and Bârnova, in Iasi County.
