Romania will host the headquarters of the European Competence Center (ECCC) in Bucharest, in accordance with an Agreement that was signed on Friday at Victoria Palace (headquarters of the Romanian Government).

The document was signed, on behalf of the Government of Romania, by the head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, Alexandru-Mihai Ghigiu, and on behalf of the European Center of Competences in the Industrial, Technological and Research Fields of Cyber Security by Luca Tagliaretti, Executive Director of the Center.

The Romanian official emphasized, on this occasion, the importance of establishing the seat of the European Competence Center in the field of cyber security in Bucharest, the first EU structure that our country hosts as a member state.

„Hosting the headquarters of the European Competence Center in Bucharest is a major achievement for Romania. It is the first time that our country hosts a European agency, a fact that reconfirms the increasingly important role of Romania in strengthening European cyber security, especially in the current international context marked of numerous security challenges,” said the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, according to a Government press release.

The event was attended by representatives of the General Secretariat of the Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Investments and European Projects, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the National Cyberint Center and the National Directorate for Cyber Security.
