Authorities in the Republic of Moldova will arrange sixteen polling stations on Romanian territory for the presidential elections and the referendum on the modification of Constitution, both due on October 20.

According to a press release of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest, three of the sixteen polling stations will be located in Bucharest, two of which will be placed at the headquarters of the Permanent Electoral Authority and one at the headquarters of the National Council for Solving Complaints, and also one in Cluj and one in Iasi. Moreover, the Moldovan citizens will be able to express their right to vote by going to the polling stations located in Bacau, Brasov, Constanta, Craiova, Galati, Oradea, Sibiu, Suceava and Timisoara.

The polling stations will be opened as of 7.00 am and they will be closed at 9.00 pm. The vote will be expressed based on a valid identity card, or based on either a valid or expired passport.

The purpose of the referendum on the modification of the Constitution is to include with fundamental law, based on the vote of the citizens, the irreversible European path of the Republic of Moldova. The question addressed to the electors is: „Do you support amending the Constitution to facilitate the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union?” with the two answer possibilities being „Yes” or „No”.
