The annual inflation rate in Romania fell in September 2024 to 4.62%, from 5.1% in August, as prices for food commodities rose by 4.72% for non-food goods by 3.3%, and for services by 7.88%, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The consumer price index in September 2024 as against August 2024 was 100.33%. The inflation rate at the beginning of the year (September 2024 as against December 2023) was 3.8%.
The annual inflation rate in September 2024 as against September 2023 was 4.6%. The average rate of change in consumer prices in the last 12 months (October 2023 – September 2024) compared to the previous 12 months (October 2022 – September 2023) was 6.1%.
The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) in September 2024 as against August 2024 was 100.40%. The annual inflation rate in September 2024 as against September 2023 against HICP was 4.8%. The average rate of change in consumer prices in the last 12 months (October 2023 – September 2024) compared to the previous 12 months (October 2022 – September 2023) against HICP was 6.4%.
The National Bank of Romania (NBR) has revised downwards, from 4.9% previously, the inflation forecast for the end of 2024 and anticipates that it will reach 3.4% by the end of 2025, according to data presented in August by the governor of the National Bank of Romania, Mugur Isarescu.
