The independent presidential candidate Mircea Geoana invited PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu to a „one on one” debate on Saturday, at the Grand Hotel Bucharest.

„Today I want to make a public appeal to my opponent, Marcel Ciolacu. We know that the polls show us in the first places. I know that you have a strong party behind you, but I cannot help but notice that the skills to lead our nation are lacking. In a healthy democracy, debate is essential, and I believe that we must confront our ideas in an open and transparent way. So, Mr. Marcel Ciolacu, I invite you to a one-on-one debate. You will bring the political support, I will bring the knowledge the necessary expertise”, Geoana said in a video message posted on his Facebook account.

He mentioned that this debate is an opportunity for voters to see the two candidates face to face and truly understand who they are and what they represent.

„We will have a neutral moderator that we can choose together to make sure that the debate is conducted fairly. Here we will be able to debate our vision of the future of the country and how we can solve the problems we face. With this I invite the media interested in this topic. Are you open to this challenge? An open debate can be a perfect opportunity for voters to make an informed choice and not on manipulation strategies. Let’s bring transparency to our election process and to offer the citizens the chance to know our true potential. I am waiting for you!
