The Government will approve a major investment project to interconnect large urban centres by rail transport, with 58 electric trains to be purchased, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced on Wednesday.

„We are approving a major investment project that connects large urban centres through modern rail transport. We are buying 58 new electric trains, an investment of 3.3 billion lei of European money,” said the Ciolacu at the beginning of the government meeting.

He added that 13 county seat municipalities will be interconnected by this investment, such as Brasov, Craiova, Braila, Galati, Bacau, Focsani, Arad, Deva, Alba Iulia, Cluj-Napoca and Oradea.

„As far as road infrastructure is concerned, we also have an important objective: the Buftea bypass. It is an investment of more than 515 million lei, which is extremely necessary for the completion of the A0 bypass motorway,” the prime minister added.
