The volume of construction works, as unadjusted series, decreased by 3.1%, overall, in the first eight months of the year, compared to the same period last year, due to the decline in maintenance and current repair works (-8%) and new construction works (-2.9%), according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Between January 1 and August 31, 2024, capital repair works increased by 6.3%.
By construction objects, there were decreases in residential buildings (-23.9%) and non-residential buildings (-2.3%). On the other hand, engineering constructions increased by 6.3%.
On a working-day and seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of construction works decreased by 2.5%. Current maintenance and repair works and new construction works decreased by 4.6% and 3.5% respectively. In contrast, capital repair works increased by 7.1%.
By construction objects, decreases were recorded for residential buildings (-23.2%) and non-residential buildings (-0.7%). Engineering constructions increased by 7.3%.
The volume of construction works increased, as unadjusted series, by 8.6%, in August 2024, compared with the previous month, with increases recorded in new construction works (+10.5%) and in maintenance and repair works (+9.1%). In contrast, capital repair works decreased by 1.1%.
By construction objects, there were increases in engineering construction works and non-residential buildings, by 12.5% and 5.8% respectively. Residential buildings decreased by 0.2%.
The volume of construction works increased, as work days and seasonally adjusted series, by 4.7%, with rises recorded in new construction works (+8.1%) and in maintenance and current repairs (+4.9%). Capital repair works decreased by 5.4%.
By construction objects, the volume of construction works increased in engineering constructions (+7.6%) and non-residential buildings (+6.8%). Residential buildings decreased by 1.1%.
As unadjusted series, the volume of construction works decreased by 4.4%, overall, in August 2024, compared to the same month last year. By structural elements, decreases were recorded in maintenance and current repair works (-10.7%) and in new construction works (-6%). In contrast, capital repairs works increased by 19.6%.
By construction objects, decreases were recorded for residential buildings (-29.9%) and non-residential buildings (-2.8%). Engineering constructions increased by 4.3%.
As working day and seasonally adjusted series, the volume of construction work decreased by 2% overall. By structural elements, decreases occurred in current repair works (-10%) and new construction works (-3.3%). Capital repair works increased by 21.8%.
By construction objects, the volume of construction works decreased for residential and non-residential buildings by 28.1% and 1.3% respectively. On the other hand, engineering constructions increased by 3.4%.
