Energy is the heart of the economy, no development without secure and cheap energy (Energy minister)

Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja said on Thursday in Vaslui, where he took part in the event marking the start of construction of the largest wind farm in Moldavia, an investment of PPC Renewables, that energy investments are the engine of economic development.

The official said that he expects investors to participate in the programmes supported by the Energy Ministry, which will benefit from certain facilities.

„I believe Romania has a good future, I know that we are used to looking at what is not working in this country. I can tell you that at least at the Ministry of Energy, in one year and three months in office, we have managed to attract 13 billion EUR, free money, which goes into the networks, into green energy production, into gas-fired power plants, into the revolution of the Romanian energy system. (…) Energy is the heart of the economy. If you don’t have secure and cheap energy, you cannot develop, and Romania, blessed by God with both resources and people, must not only be an example for itself, but must also be a pillar for all the countries in the region,” said Sebastian Burduja.

The Energy Minister welcomed the idea of Public Power Corporation SA (PPC) starting the most important investment in renewable energy in Moldova, saying that this will bring a plus in the national energy system, given that most of the energy production units are located in the south of the country.

PPC Renewables is starting construction works on the largest wind farm in Moldavia, in Vaslui County, with a 140 MW wind power plant. The 23 wind turbines will be located on land in Deleni, Costesti and Bogdanesti, and the 400/200/110 kV station will be located in the commune of Banca. The green energy produced annually will be enough to supply households in a city the size of the Municipality of Vaslui, avoiding CO2 emissions of over 200,000 tonnes. The investment amounts to about 200 million EUR.

State adviser in the Prime Minister’s Chancellery Florin Spataru presented a message on behalf of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, in which he emphasized the need for investments in the energy sector.
