The unemployment rate recorded at national level was 3.14% at the end of September 2024, and the total number of unemployed people was 250,305, the National Agency for Employment (ANOFM) informed on Wednesday.
The institution mentions that the unemployment rate recorded in September was calculated using the data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on the civilian labor force as of January 1, 2024, information that is provided every year, usually after September.
Of the total number of registered unemployed people, 52,269 were collecting unemployment benefit and 198,036 were not. The number of jobless on benefit was by 759 people higher, while that of unemployed receiving no benefit was by 3,164 people higher compared to the previous month.
By area of residence, the number of unemployed at the end of September was as follows: 68,003 unemployed were from urban areas and 182,302 from rural areas.
The number of unemployed women as of September 30, 2024 was 117,906, while the number of unemployed men was 132,399.
Most unemployed were aged between 40 and 49 (63,375), followed by those aged over 55 (56,457). Unemployment was the lowest in the 25 – 29 age category (13,741).
By educational level, the unemployed without formal education and those with primary education account for a significant share in the total number of unemployed registered in the ANOFM records (31.23%). Unemployed middle school graduates account for 33.56% of this total, and higher education graduates – for 4.58%.
