Special Correspondence from Paris – Prime Minister Ciolacu made statements during his official visit to France, explaining, at the request of ECOPOLITIC, the „fault” of the state in its relations with the diaspora: The Romanian diaspora would not have been so large if the state had intervened in certain areas of development, Ciolacu says.
The special correspondent of ecopolitic.ro, Iulian Ionescu, reports on the official visit of Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu to France.
The Ecopolitic correspondent’s question for Prime Minister Ciolacu: In most of the meetings you have had with the diaspora you have used the words „blame” and „apologies” – towards Romanians who have left their country – can you elaborate on these statements?
Ciolacu: In France we have the second largest community of doctors leaving Romania
- I am the representative of the Romanian state. The Romanian Diaspora would not have been so large if the state had intervened in certain areas of development.
- When you see that many people from Suceava are leaving Romania, many people from Neamț are leaving Romania, from Botoșani, from Vaslui, at that moment you have certain indicators when you are managing the affairs of the country.
- The lack of infrastructure, the lack of dual education, you take social categories and intervene in each category. I repeat, in France we have the second largest community of doctors leaving Romania, 10,000, huge.
- Next week we will also go to Great Britain, both in France and in Great Britain Romanian doctors were decorated, especially during the pandemic. There is a sense of embarrassment. They are open, they communicate with you, they tell you about what they have experienced, the fact that they didn’t know any exact profession at the beginning. That’s why I talked about the need to train young people.
- We, the state, must create opportunities. Every Romanian lives in a free Europe and every child shares. But from my point of view, after the Moldovan highway and the money invested in infrastructure, the best one billion euros spent by the Romanian state was in the centers for dual education.
- Having a trade will enable young people to be well paid in Romania. The incomes in France have also been standardized with those in Romania, so, naturally, you have lower costs in Romania, you are also with your family and the decision to leave will be a harder one.
- We have to recognize these mistakes, we have to see where we started from, we have to stop. Slowly, slowly, we must make it clear to Romanians to come back!
