PM Ciolacu: Romania is a model of good coexistence between citizens, whether majority or national minorities

Romania is a model of good coexistence between citizens, whether they belong to the majority or national minorities, and of promoting identity rights, stated Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu in a message on National Minorities Day in Romania.

„Today we celebrate diversity, cultural richness, and the substantial contribution of national minorities to social, economic, and political stability, as well as to intercultural dialogue. Romania is a model of good coexistence between citizens, whether they belong to the majority or national minorities, and of promoting identity rights,” said Marcel Ciolacu.

Improving legislation and ensuring the active participation of minorities in all fields of political, cultural, and socio-economic life in our country have been a constant priority for post-December governments, he added.

„Continuing this line and ensuring social and political stability are all the more important given the period we are going through,” emphasised Ciolacu.

The Prime Minister also reiterated that the commitment of the Romanian Government is to continue protecting human rights and freedoms, democracy, and to not tolerate hate, prejudice, or discrimination, as well as antisemitic, anti-Roma, or xenophobic behaviors.

„Through dialogue, respect, and understanding, Romanian citizens, both majority and minority, have managed to live harmoniously in their communities, but also at the national level. Let us move forward guided by these values validated by the wisdom of the Romanian people and together build the Romania we all want to live in. Many Happy Returns of the Day!,” concluded Ciolacu.
