President Klaus Iohannis argued, on Wednesday, that an integrated approach and finding tools and solutions are needed, because that is what the people expect from the EU leadership and from national leaderships.
The head of state is participating in the EU – Western Balkans Summit and the European Council in Brussels.
Iohannis had a first meeting with the new president of the European Council, António Costa, with whom he discussed „the importance of resilience and a strategic orientation, to be able to manage all the challenges”.
At the same time, the head of state pointed out, efforts are needed to combat Russia’s „malignant” interference, „to reduce our exposure to these treacherous attacks”.
„This is not a threat only to Romania, but to democracies,” he added, regarding foreign interference in the electoral process, calling for coordination.
