Almost 23,000 Interior Ministry employees on duty throughout Christmas holiday

Published on

Approximately 22,800 employees of the Interior Ministry (MAI), mostly police officers, gendarmes, firefighters, SMURD rescuers, and border police officers, will be on duty daily during the Christmas mini-holiday.

„In order to prevent illegal acts and ensure rapid intervention to support citizens, the Interior Ministry personnel will focus on tourist resorts, entertainment venues, crowded areas, and locations with a higher risk of illegal acts. Additionally, a priority task for these days has been announced by the spokesperson of the Interior Ministry, Monica Dajbog.

Public order teams will be present at events attended by a significant number of people to prevent illegal acts triggered by overcrowding, as well as to combat serious crimes.”

Dajbog enumerated the staff and equipment active each day as follows: 4,900 fire-fighters, 14 aviation inspectorate general aircraft, four helicopters, two hundred mountain gendarmes, 1,400 road police officers.

Additionally, border police officers will make efforts to ensure rapid and efficient control at border crossing points, considering that many people choose to travel abroad, while Romanians working abroad are returning to the country.
