Dozens of prison policemen from Arad protest and refuse to do overtime

Published on

Dozens of prison policemen protest on Tuesday morning in front of the Arad Penitentiary, dissatisfied with some measures taken by the Government that would reduce their income, with half of the trade union members also signing to refuse to work overtime.

The protest began after the night shift, with both those who had left their posts and some who were coming from home.

„Our main dissatisfaction is related to the cutting of bonuses for weekend days worked or for legal holidays worked. Secondly, we are dissatisfied with the non-payment of overtime,” the trade union leader of the Arad Penitentiary, Mario Bubus told AGERPRES.

Approximately 40 prison policemen, out of the 90 trade union members, attended the hour-long protest.

According to the trade union leader, half of the members signed a petition to refuse to work overtime as long as they are not paid.

The Arad Penitentiary currently houses approximately 1,500 inmates.
