Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu on Wednesday welcomed the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the release of the hostages, stressing that humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people should be continued.

„We welcome the long-awaited ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages in Gaza. This brings hope for the families of the hostages. We should continue our humanitarian assistance for Palestinian people. It is time to think about the future of the Middle East and securing a lasting regional peace,” Marcel Ciolacu said in a message on the X platform.

Israel and Hamas agreed on Wednesday to a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages, ending the 15-month war that has left tens of thousands dead in the Palestinian territory, a source close to the talks told AFP, days after of intense diplomatic efforts in Doha, reports AFP.

„An agreement for the ceasefire in Gaza and for the release of the hostages was concluded following the meeting of the Prime Minister of Qatar (Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani) with the Hamas negotiators and, separately, with the Israeli negotiators, in his office,” the source said under the condition anonymity.
