The two airports in the Capital witnessed a record air traffic last year, with the number of passengers passing through them having increased 9.22% compared to 2023, and 8.99% compared to 2019, when the historic maximum was reached, Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) reports on Thursday.

According to CNAB data, in 2024, the Henri Coanda International Airport Bucharest and the Aurel Vlaicu Bucharest-Baneasa International Airport recorded air traffic of 16,053,878 passengers and 134,700 aircraft movements (landings and take-offs).

The number of passengers transiting Bucharest’s airports last year showed a significant increase of 9.22% compared to 2023. Compared to the same period in 2019, when the two airports reached their historic peak, 2024 saw an 8.99% increase in the number of passengers.

In 2024, 15,946,791 passengers passed through Henri Coanda Airport, while Baneasa Airport was transited by 107,087 passengers.

„The evolution of the number of passengers at the two airports of the Bucharest Airports National Company is in line with the general trend recorded at the European level, reaching pre-pandemic levels,” CNAB points out.

The Capital’s airports also recorded an increase in the number of aircraft movements. Thus, in 2024, the number of aircraft movements was 4.75% higher compared to 2023.

More specifically, Henri Coanda Airport recorded 118,693 landings and take-offs, while Baneasa Airport recorded 16,007 aircraft movements.

The Bucharest Airports National Company coordinates operations and management for the two airports in the Capital, processing approximately 65% of Romania’s passenger traffic.
