The number of births and deaths, registered in November 2024, increased compared to the same period of the previous year, and the natural increase remained negative, at minus 8,337 people, according to data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
According to official statistics, in November last year, birth certificates were registered for 11,697 children, while the number of death certificates was 20,034, of which 10,383 for men and 9,651 for women.
The natural increase remained negative (-8,337) in November 2024, the number of registered deaths being 1.7 times higher than that of live births, from one month to the next.
Also, the number of divorces pronounced by final court decisions and by the agreement of the spouses (administratively or by notarial procedure) was 1,840, in November 2024, compared to October, the same year.
Compared to November 2023, in November 2024, 6.9% more birth certificates for live births were issued, respectively an increase of 0.7% in the case of death certificates.
In November 2024, the death of 9,864 people (5,048 men and 4,816 women) was recorded in urban areas, and the death of 10,170 people (5,335 men and 4,835 women) was recorded in rural areas.
Compared to the same month in 2023, the number of registered deaths decreased by -0.5% in urban areas, but increased by 2% in rural areas.
