Romania reports 131 new weekly cases of COVID-19, up 14.9pct, two deaths

The National Public Health Institute (INSP) on Tuesday reported that between January 20 and 26, 131 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were reported in Romania, up 14.9% from the previous week.

According to INSP, 34 of the new cases were in reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.

Between January 20 and 26, two deaths were reported in people with COVID-19, both in patients with comorbidities.

So far, 69,249 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.

As of this week, 3,582,538 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were recorded in the country.

Last week, 825 RT-PCR tests and 14,109 rapid antigen tests were performed. The positivity rate was 0.9%.

So far, 14,040,759 RT-PCR tests and 15,198,821 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.
