Six medals won by Romania in indoor rowing at Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025

Romania’s team won six medals – three gold, one silver and two bronze – in indoor rowing, on the last day of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.

„When this post appears, the Invictus athletes are on their way home, after having carried the Romanian flag in Canada at the Invictus Games 2025. Yesterday [Monday, editor’s note], the Romanian team excelled on the final day of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. Our athletes won 6 medals – 3 gold, one silver and two bronze, in the 1 and 4 minute events respectively,” the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

According to MApN, the Romanian flag was carried to the podium, to the applause of all those present, by: Daniel Porumb – 1 minute; Daniel Porumb – 4 minutes; Viorel Amzarescu – 4 minutes; Gabriel Czifrak – 1 minute; Viorel Amzarescu – 1 minute; Dumitru Paraschiva – 1 minute.

Also at the Invictus Games 2025, Raul Mirica placed third in the 50 metres backstroke swimming event, and he took the silver medal in the snowboarding event, according to the MApN Facebook page.

A bronze medal was also won by the captain of the Romanian Army team, Daniel Porumb, in the downhill skiing.

The Invictus Games is an international sports competition, first held in 2014, which aims to highlight and encourage civil society’s recognition of those wounded in military action.

The 2025 competition brought together 500 competitors from 23 countries around the world. Romania participated for the fifth time in the Invictus Games, after the editions in Toronto (2017), Sydney (2018), The Hague (2022), Dusseldorf (2023), when Invictus Team Romania won 40 medals – 15 gold, 16 silver and 9 bronze.
