Antonescu: If the majority of Romanians want the EU to be replaced by a relationship with God, we will comply

Published on

The candidate of the Electoral Alliance „Romania Forward”, Crin Antonescu, said on Friday in Craiova that he still believes that it would be good for the independent Calin Georgescu to run, and if the majority of Romanians want „to drink, to eat” and „to replace the European Union with the relationship with God”, „then we will comply with the will of the nation.”

„It would not be fair to prescribe solutions, to suggest solutions myself possibly for the forums that would discuss Mr Georgescu’s candidacy. I just said that it would be good for him to run, I say that now and let’s see what happens. That is, if a majority of Romanians want to drink, to eat, to do the things that Mr. Georgescu talks about, if they want to replace the European Union with our relationship with God, things that are unmixable, in my opinion, if, if, if, then we will comply with the will of the nation. I don’t think that Mr Georgescu will win the election even if he runs. And once again I express my hope that there is no evidence, some evidence, some deeds of Mr. Georgescu that would invalidate his candidacy,” Antonescu said at a press conference.

Asked about the situation in which Georgescu would win the presidency, Antonescu said that that is „totally unpredictable.”

„I don’t want to cross the line of elegance in any way and I will use the term totally unpredictable in relation to Mr Georgescu. Mr. Georgescu was not told and is not told has not and has not told us with whom he is doing what he thinks should be done in Romania. In fact, he didn’t tell us anything, he told us what should no longer be in Romania: that there will be no more parties, that the people, the Romanian nation will stand. We are not talking about gymnastics now; we are talking about politics. So exactly how, everyone wants to stand, I think a lot of us do. The danger would be a public disturbance, a mixed form of fascist and Bolshevik discourse: everything must be smoothed out, no one is good, neither the central nor the local administration. I mean, what do we do? What happens next? Mr Georgescu governs with the people or this does not exist in democracy,” Antonescu said.

He also said that Georgescu is incomparably a more serious candidate than Victor Ponta.

„I talked about Mr. Georgescu a little bit, because Mr. Georgescu is incomparably a candidate and a man who appears and speaks more seriously than Mr Ponta. His ideas are unserious. But man teaches it seriously,” Antonescu said.
