The preservation and promotion of the numerous historical monuments in Mures County must be a priority for both local and central authorities, says Minister of Culture Natalia Intotero.
„Yesterday, in Targu Mures, I discussed the importance of protecting and capitalising on cultural heritage, a valuable resource for national identity and the region’s tourism development. With numerous historical monuments, Mures County has immense cultural and tourism potential. The preservation and promotion of these must be a priority for local and central authorities,” Intotero wrote on Facebook on Friday.
According to the minister, the restoration of the National Theatre in Targu Mures is a major goal, which will begin once the cadastral situation is completed. The creation of an interactive map of historical monuments will help facilitate their promotion and protection.
Among the objectives for promoting the cultural heritage of Mures County, Natalia Intotero highlights identifying financial resources for the restoration of heritage, which „remains a challenge but is essential for preserving these valuable sites,” as well as involving young people in promoting local heritage, which „represents a strategic direction for the long term.”
„The Palace of Culture in Targu Mures must be included on the UNESCO list, and the Kornis-Rakoczi Bethlen Castle in Iernut urgently needs restoration measures,” the minister of Culture further conveyed.
