PM Ciolacu sends condolences to those affected by the tragedy in Kocani, North Macedonia

Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu sends condolences to those affected by the fire in the city of Kocani, North Macedonia, which killed dozens of people and claims that Romania is ready to offer its support.

„I am saddened by the news about the tragic fire in the city of Kocani in North Macedonia, which took the lives of many young people. On behalf of the Government of Romania, I send my condolences to those affected by this tragedy. We share the pain with the North Macedonians and we are ready to offer them support, standing in solidarity with them in these difficult times,” prime minister Marcel Ciolacu wrote on the X platform on Sunday.

North Macedonia’s interior minister, Pance Toskovski, announced that 51 people died and over 100 were injured in a fire that broke out on the night between Saturday and Sunday in a nightclub in the city of Kocani, according to AFP.

The fire broke out in a crowded nightclub in Kocani, located about 100 kilometers east of the capital Skopje, where a famous hip-hop band from the country was performing.
