Acting President Ilie Bolojan on Sunday stressed Romania’s solidarity with the people of North Macedonia following the fire in the town of Kocani, which killed dozens of people.

„We are deeply saddened by the devastating fire in the town of Kocani, North Macedonia. We convey our condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and wish a speedy recovery to those injured. Romania stands in solidarity with the people of North Macedonia in these tragic moments,” Bolojan wrote on Sunday on the X platform.

North Macedonia’s Interior Minister Pance Toskovski said 51 people died and more than 100 were injured in a fire Saturday night in a nightclub in the town of Kocani, AFP reports.

The fire broke out in a crowded nightclub in Kocani, about 100 kilometers east of the capital Skopje, where a famous hip-hop band from the country was performing.
