Education Ministry promoting achievements of Romanian researchers

Published on

The Ministry of Education and Research, through the National Authority for Research (ANC), has announced the launch of a campaign in which, on a monthly basis, at least one major scientific achievement with a significant impact on society will be promoted. This achievement will be the result of researchers from Romanian universities and research institutes.

„The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) reaffirms its commitment to bring science and culture closer to the general public, through education and the promotion of critical thinking as an effective antidote against manipulation, conspiracies and pseudoknowledge propagated by pseudoscience and pseudoreligion. In a world where misinformation is gaining more ground, MEC assumes the role of a platform that connects people with the authentic achievements of Romanian research, thus contributing to the development of an informed and resilient society,” reads a MEC press release sent to AGERPRES on Monday.

According to the ministry, the campaign, which aims to highlight the performances of Romanian researchers, inspire young people by offering good practice models, and combat false narratives through the power of authentic knowledge, kicks off with the remarkable story of Daniela Pascal, a researcher at the „Horia Hulubei” National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN-HH), who has recently returned from a scientific expedition in Antarctica.

The film „A Romanian in Antarctica!” created in collaboration with physicist Cristian Presura, has been launched on social media and has already attracted hundreds of thousands of views.

The material showcases Daniela Pascal’s contributions to polar research, emphasising her role in advancing scientific knowledge and the impact of her work on global society.

Her achievement was first promoted in the pages of InHouse magazine, a publication belonging to the National Authority for Research, which is dedicated to promoting top science and research in Romania.

„This initiative joins other recent efforts by MEC, such as partnerships with the National Audiovisual Council (CNA) and social media platforms, aimed at combating misinformation and promoting critical thinking in the public space. Through such projects, MEC seeks to create bridges between the scientific community and citizens, offering positive role models and verified information,” the release highlights.
