General Inspectorate for Immigration: 49 escorted removal missions, carried out in first two months of 2025

The General Inspectorate for Immigration reported on Thursday that 49 escorted removal missions were carried out in the first two months of this year on Romanian territory.

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, between January 1 and February 28, immigration police officers placed 191 foreign nationals in accommodation centers for foreigners taken into custody, until the completion of the escorted removal procedures.

Most were from Bangladesh – 34, Ethiopia – 32, Sri Lanka – 19, Nepal – 15, Vietnam – 15, Syria – 11.

During the same period, immigration police officers carried out 49 escorted removal missions, during which 133 people were removed to border crossing points and 23 to the country of origin, the cited source said.

An entry ban has been imposed for periods between six months and five years when leaving the territory of EU member states, the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation.
