Ciolacu: Economy, going in right direction, Pillar II contributions record in February – 1.8 billion RON

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Thursday that the country’s economy is going in the right direction, pointing out that in February an absolute monthly record was registered for the contributions of employees to the Pillar II private pension system, amounting to 1.8 billion RON.

„I conclude with an example showing that Romania’s economy is going in the right direction. We have an absolute monthly record in terms of employees’ contributions to Pillar II of private pensions: 1.8 billion RON in February,” Ciolacu said at the start of the executive meeting.

He said that assets at the end of 2024 had grown by almost 20%.

„Exactly a year ago, I was accused of wanting to nationalize Pillar II pension. Today, this government ensures through its public policies the highest contributions in the history of private pensions in the last 17 years!,” Ciolacu added.
