Two citizens from Nepal, one from Sri Lanka removed from Romania by immigration police

Two citizens from Nepal and one from Sri Lanka, illegally present in Romania, have been expelled from our country, the General Inspectorate for Immigration (IGI) reports on Tuesday.

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, immigration police officers from the Arad Public Custody Accommodation Centre removed under escort two citizens from Nepal and one citizen from Sri Lanka, who were taken to the Cluj-Napoca International Airport and sent to their countries of origin.

„The Sri Lankan citizen entered Romania legally in 2019, for work purposes. Recently, he was detected trying to illegally cross the state border, which is why, on March 21, he was placed in public custody, until the completion of the removal procedure under escort. The two Nepalese citizens entered Romania in 2024, also for work purposes, but did not regulate their stay within the deadlines provided by law. As a result, on March 6, return decisions were issued in their names with a voluntary departure deadline of 15 days, but they did not comply with that either. Later, they were detected while trying to illegally cross the state border, being taken into public custody until their removal from Romanian territory,” the Inspectorate specifies.

All three were banned from entering the European Union, the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation for periods ranging from six months to three years.
