The Bucharest police, together with prosecutors, on Tuesday, following four home searches, identified three suspects in the case of the pro-Georgescu [Calin Georgescu, former presidential candidate – editor’s note] protest at the Central Electoral Office on March 9.

„Today, police officers from the Bucharest General Police Directorate (DGPMB) – Criminal Investigation Service, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court, implemented four home search warrants in Bucharest and Ilfov County, in a criminal case in which investigations are being carried out regarding the commission of crimes of outrage, disturbance of public order and peace, and destruction,” informs a DGPMB press release sent to AGERPRES.

Following the home searches, several items of interest in the case were identified, and the persons in question will be taken to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Bucharest Courthouse for questioning, in order to take the necessary legal measures.

„We reiterate that, on March 25, 2025, 13 more home searches were carried out in the same case, in Bucharest and in Ilfov and Dâmbovita counties,” the same source reports.

On March 9, several people participated in a spontaneous protest in the area of the Central Electoral Bureau headquarters.

Some of the protest participants became violent, resorting to acts of physical violence against the police. They threw hard objects and caused street damage and damage to several companies located in that area.

From the investigations, it was established that, in carrying out the violent actions, the suspects used blunt objects, and the destruction was also caused by arson.

The investigations are continued by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court, together with police officers from the Criminal Investigation Service and the Violent Criminal Groups Service, in terms of committing crimes of outrage, destruction and disturbance of public order and peace.
