USR’s Mosteanu tells visiting US delegation Visa Waiver Program remains a priority for Romania

The Visa Waiver Program remains „a priority” for Romania, said Save Romania Union (USR) Lower House floor leader Ionut Mosteanu on Tuesday during talks with representatives of the US Congress delegation currently on an official visit to Romania.

„The Visa Waiver Program remains a priority for the USR and Romania. We conveyed the message of millions of Romanians in the country and in the diaspora. It’s time for Romanians to be able to travel freely to the US, as equal partners. Based on the strategic partnership, Romania and the United States will continue to collaborate for a safer and more prosperous world,” Mosteanu wrote on Facebook.

He mentioned that talks with the delegation representatives tackled strengthening bilateral relations and the need to continue military cooperation between Romania and the US, referencing in this regard the „consistent” presence of the US military on NATO’s eastern flank, and Romania and its European partners increasing security and defense allocations.

„We expressed our support for the efforts made by the United States in mediating a just peace that would put an end to Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine and for establishing a system of regional security guarantees. We also emphasized how important it is to seek a solution to de-escalate the economic tensions that affect the whole of Europe. A tariff war would also harm entrepreneurs in Romania, especially the automotive industry, which must be defended,” the post also states.

Ionut Mosteanu and USR Senator Simona Spataru participated on Tuesday in an official meeting with a bipartisan delegation of the US Congress, which is on a visit to Romania, USR informs.
