The National Chamber Choir „Madrigal – Marin Constantin” is holding the extraordinary concert ‘Passion Week’ on Thursday in the Aula Magna Hall of the Bucharest Polytechnic University.

According to the website madrigal.ro, the event is part of the Easter tour „Passion Week”, which started on April 1 in Câmpina and will end on April 24 in Sfântu Gheorghe, Covasna County.

„The extraordinary spectacle ‘Passion Week’ brings the audience a retrospective of the last week in the life of Jesus. From joy and life, to agony and then to ecstasy, from light, to darkness and back to light, the spectator is part of an avalanche of emotions. We are also happy that we can be present this year at Easter in cities where we have not been for decades,” said Emil Pantelimon, manager of the Madrigal Choir and director of the show, at the start of the tour.

Structured as a proposal for introspection and rediscovery through sound and emotion of the mysteries of Holy Week, the event offers the audience a series of remarkable Romanian and universal spiritual compositions. The program includes works by Anton Pann, Nicolae Lungu, Gheorghe Danga, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Krzystof Penderecki, Christopher Tin. The show is augmented by a unique scenography, with suggestive sets and light design, as well as by the presence of actors Marius Turdeanu and Theo Marton, who bring fragments from the New Testament Gospels to the stage.

The direction and script of the show are signed by Emil Pantelimon, the set design belongs to Vladimir Turturica, and the organization is carried out by Leila Popovici.

The Easter Tour is part of the „Marin Constantin 100” anniversary program. In 2025, the Madrigal Choir celebrates 100 years since the birth of its founder, Marin Constantin (1925 – 2011), through a wide series of projects and cultural events, which will take place throughout the year.
