Ilie Bolojan takes note of Marcel Ciolacu’s resignation; interim prime minister – to be appointed on Tuesday

Published on

Interim President Ilie Bolojan has taken note of the resignation of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, the Presidential Administration informed on Monday.

„The President has taken note of the resignation from the position of Prime Minister of the Government of Romania, submitted this evening by Marcel Ciolacu. An interim prime minister will be appointed in the first part of tomorrow,” the Presidential Administration announced, after the meeting between the two.

The PSD’s National Political Council decided on Monday that the party would leave the governing coalition and that Marcel Ciolacu would resign from the position of Prime Minister.

„The governing coalition has no legitimacy, at least in this composition. I proposed to my colleagues to leave the coalition, which leads to my resignation from the position of prime minister, which I will do after the meeting with you. I have decided that the PSD ministers remain to discuss with the representatives of the PNL, UDMR and what is decided will be done [regarding the interim ministers]”, declared the PSD president, Marcel Ciolacu, at the party’s headquarters.
