PresidentialElection2025/ PSD not to publicly support any of presidential candidates in the second round

Published on

The National Political Council of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) decided on Monday that the Social Democrats will not publicly support either of the two candidates who remain in the presidential race – George Simion and Nicusor Dan.

„A decision I made, at the proposal of many colleagues with political experience within the party, is not to publicly support one of the two candidates in the second round. Each PSD sympathizer will vote as he wishes, according to his own conscience. Something that seems fair to me. I even read a post by the former president of Romania, I never thought I would end up invoking him and agreeing with him, the future president of Romania needs the Romanian people, not political arrangements,” said PSD chairman Marcel Ciolacu at the party’s headquarters.
