Published on

The Parliamentary Commission for Laws of Justice adopted several amendments to the draft statute of prosecutors and judges, including one that stipulates that those who are part of the related specialized staff of the courts and prosecutor’s offices cannot be operative workers, including undercover, informants or collaborators of any intelligence service, according to Agerpres.

„Judges, prosecutors, assistant magistrates, specialized legal personnel assimilated to them, specialized auxiliary personnel and personnel related to the specialized staff of judicial courts and prosecutor’s offices cannot be operative workers, including undercover, informants or collaborators of any intelligence service,” according to the quoted source.

Another amendment adopted on Thursday mentions that the intelligence services are forbidden to recruit judges, prosecutors, assistant magistrates, specialized legal personnel assimilated to them, specialized auxiliary personnel and personnel related to the specialized personnel of the judicial courts and prosecutor’s offices.

„The violation of this prohibition is a crime against the independence of the judiciary and is punishable by imprisonment from 5 to 10 years. If the crime is committed by an officer with management position or at their instigation, the limits of the punishment are increased by half. The attempt is punished,” the amendment says.
