Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna announced on Thursday that the newly established Roman Catholic High School in Targu Mures received the official seal from the Autonomous Corporation State Mint in a timely manner, which allows the completion of applications before the start of the school year.
„All obstacles have been removed! The Roman Catholic High School in Targu Mures will operate as an independent educational institution as of Monday. Today I met with the school’s director, Tamási Zsolt, in Bucharest and we have overcome the last bureaucratic obstacle before the start of the school year. The school received the official seal in good time, which allows the finalization of applications before the start of the school year. I wish a successful school year to the over 500 students and their teachers, who have regained their Hungarian independent school,” Tanczos Barna posted, in Hungarian, on Facebook.
The Targu Mures Local Council approved on August 29, in an extraordinary meeting convened immediately, the establishment of the state confessional pre-university education unit Targu Mures Romano-Catholic High School and the reorganization of the school network for the year 2025-2026.
„The high school operates with legal personality, based on the Order of the Ministry of Education and Research no. 5945/28.08.2025 (…). The decision was adopted in compliance with the legislation in force and based on the documents submitted by the Mures County School Inspectorate and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Alba Iulia”, the Targu Mures City Hall announced in a press release on the day the decision was adopted.
The adoption of this decision, the municipality said, was necessary to ensure the legal framework for the organization and functioning of the new school year, which begins on September 8.
According to the Order of the Ministry of National Education No. 4511/2017, the heads of pre-university education institutions have the right to procure, own and use seals with the coat of arms of Romania, and the seals are ordered at the Autonomous Corporation State Mint by the school inspectorates.
