If there are things which can be fixed regarding the teachers’ situation, they shall be fixed, President Nicusor Dan stated on Monday.
„Let’s see how things settle now and, if there are things which can be fixed, they shall be fixed. But there was an effort on several fronts in order to reduce the deficit. This was the effort in education and it should have started earlier,” the head of state said.
He accompanied his daughter on her first day of school, along with his son.
The President explained why he chose not to officially attend the school year opening ceremony.
„There is this tension, there are some demands from the teachers and I didn’t want to be defiant,” Nicusor Dan added.
The new school year will begin with protests of the teaching staff.
The Federation of Free Trade Unions in Education, the „Spiru Haret” Federation of Education Unions and the „Alma Mater” National Trade Union Federation are protesting against the provisions of the first fiscal package regarding the education system.
At 10:00 AM, the protesters will gather in the Victoriei Square and from there, they will march toward the Cotroceni Palace.
