Ukrainian citizen who crossed the border into Romania through the Maramures Mountains was found after a night of searching in a state of dehydration, informs the director of the Maramures County Public Service (SPJ) Mountain Rescue, Dan Benga, on Wednesday.

„Following a search operation carried out almost throughout last night (Tuesday night to Wednesday – editor’s note), the Mountain Rescue teams, together with the Border Police, located the 52-year-old Ukrainian citizen, who, according to him, had been in the mountain area for approximately nine days. The person in question was found dehydrated, but without other major medical problems. After providing first aid and after being hydrated and offered food, he was safely transported to the base of the mountain, where he was taken over by the relevant authorities for standard procedures in such situations,” said Dan Benga.

The intervention of the mountain rescuers was supported by a crew of the Border Police, the Valea Viseului sector, a locality bordering Ukraine. AGERPRES
