CNAS announces continuity of treatment for oncology patients

Published on

The National Health Insurance House (CNAS) assures oncology patients that it continuously monitors the use of the approved budget in all areas of medical care, and currently there are no discontinuities in the treatment they benefit from.

The CNAS team appreciates the efforts made by the Ministry of Finance to identify the necessary solutions to pay all obligations due in August, amounting to 2.8 billion lei. At the same time, CNAS is using all legal levers to avoid discontinuities in providing medical treatments, until a positive budgetary rectification is approved, a press release from the institution announced.

„Considering that, starting with September, the commitment credits for oncology drugs from cost-volume contracts are not sufficient to cover the necessary, CNAS has carried out a redistribution of these credits in the amount of 405 million lei, in accordance with the requests of the hospitals, so that the health units can provide patients with the appropriate treatment without discontinuities. For the same purpose, the president of CNAS, associate professor Dr. Horaţiu-Remus Moldovan, requested the detailed situation of the implementation of the National Oncology Program throughout the country, and the data analysis showed adequate management at the level of the national health system, with specific problems being recorded in some health units in seven counties and in the municipality of Bucharest. The situation was monitored and managed operatively, and at this moment the treatments are provided appropriately to all oncology patients”, stated CNAS.

The CNAS team also gave assurances that it pays attention to reporting any problems that arise in the provision of medical services reimbursed from the FNUASS, in order to promptly intervene to resolve them, ensure uninterrupted access to necessary treatments and continue to act together with institutional partners to provide medical assistance in optimal conditions for all patients in Romania.AGERPRES
