President Dan: Upcoming months’ priorities – public communication, justice, intelligence services, Romania’s economic direction

Published on

President Nicusor Dan stated Tuesday evening that his priorities for the coming months focus on public communication, ensuring the media space is as fair as possible for all members of society, as well as on justice reform, upcoming decisions regarding intelligence services, and better shaping Romania’s economic direction.

„Until the end of the year, it’s simpler, because this concerns public communication — how we ensure the media space is fair for everyone, so that each person has the opportunity to express themselves without any message being distorted or exaggerated. This is something I am concerned with and will focus on in the coming months. Then, justice is a promise I made during the campaign. Again, here there won’t be spectacular results overnight; it requires many hours of discussion with the various actors involved in the justice sector — prosecutors, courts, civil and criminal courts, and, of course, the intelligence services,” Nicusor Dan said in an interview with Euronews Romania, when asked about his goals for the rest of the year and his mandate.

Regarding appointments to the leadership of intelligence services, the president emphasized that this is a political matter.

„This is a decision that involves both the president and the parliamentary majority. Within this majority, there are several parties with different opinions, so it’s a political matter,” the head of state noted.

According to President Dan, another key objective is „better shaping the economic direction that Romania needs to take in the short, medium, and long term.”

He also said that once these priorities are „stabilized,” attention will turn to other crucial areas, such as Education and Health.

„If you ask me about the entire mandate, once we stabilize these issues, we can also look at other matters that are equally important and very complex: how to create an effective education system at all levels, how to make the health system efficient in terms of spending funds from the Health Insurance House, and, of course, ensure that the services are adequate. There are many sectoral issues that require analysis, but for now, let us focus on the core priorities,” Nicusor Dan added. AGERPRES
