Aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, in the Air Police Combat Service, carried out, on Saturday, a mission in the national airspace to intercept and escort a civilian plane operating the flight on the Poznan – Tel Aviv route, as a result of an information received by the civil air traffic authorities about a bomb alert, informs a press release of the General Staff of the Air Force, Agerpres reads.
According to the press release, the Romanian aircraft took off at 16:28 local time and, after interception, escorted the civil aircraft, in accordance with the legislation and procedures in force, including on a portion of Hungarian airspace, until it was taken over by aircraft of the Hungarian Air Forces.
The mission, ordered by the NATO Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC) Torrejon and coordinated at the national level by the Reporting and Control Center of the Air Component Command, in coordination with the civil air traffic authorities, was executed in conditions of maximum safety, the release also reads.
