Petre Daea: „Romania’s National Strategic Plan in the final stage, all EC observations processed”

Published on

Romania is „in the final stage” with the development of the National Strategic Plan (NSP), and all of the European Commission’s more than 370 observations have been processed, but have not yet been validated because of the recess of the European officials, but by October 1 things should be „very clear”, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Petre Daea declared on Friday at a press conference in Arad (western Romania), according to Agerpres.

The Minister said that work on the NSP „has been substantive and very careful” and that „this is a very laborious document, considerably changed compared to the common agricultural policy for the 2014 – 2020 cycle, with a more pronounced shift towards environmental aspects and with stronger restrictions from this point of view, but with better clarity of the projection for farmer support in the next period”.

„We are prepared with the entire Plan, we have no problem as to the correct interpretation of the goals the European Union has introduced in the general concept and which we have assimilated, considering the specific conditions and the specificity of Romanian agriculture,” the Minister added.

The Minister of Agriculture is in Arad on Friday, where he visited Agromalim, the second largest agricultural fair after Bucharest, which this year sees the participation of approximately 270 companies from Romania, Hungary, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. The Minister also met with farmers and mayors from the county.
