Tacit adoption by the Senate: Pensions up to 3,000 RON, untaxed

The Senate tacitly adopted a legislative proposal to amend the Fiscal Code, whereby pensions of up to 3,000 RON are not taxed, according to Agerpres.

The note of tacit adoption of the legislative proposal, for which the deadline for debate and vote expired on December 14, was read in plenary by the interim president of the Senate, Alina Gorghiu, who led Monday’s plenary session.

„The monthly taxable income from pensions is established by deducting from the pension income the non-taxable monthly amount of 3,000 RON and, as the case may be, the social health insurance contribution due according to Title V ‘Mandatory social contributions'”, the legislative proposal states.

The initiators, a group of National Liberal Party (PNL) MPs, justify their legislative initiative by the fact that „in the context of the accelerated increase in consumer prices, the purchasing power of elderly people with low pensions is eroding” and propose increasing the tax ceiling on pensions from 2,000 to 3,000 RON, „as a form of partial compensation for the inflation of the last period”.

The legislative proposal will be debated by the Chamber of Deputies, decision-making body in this case.
