INS: Arrivals in tourist accommodation units up by 20.6% in first 11 months of 2022

Arrivals in tourist accommodation units totaled 10.492 million people between January 1 and November 30, 2022, an increase of 20.6% compared to the same period in 2021, with Romanian tourists accounting for 86.1%, and foreign tourists for 13.9% thereof, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Agerpres reports.

The overnight stays registered in tourist accommodation units between January 1 and November 30, 2022 totaled 22.756 million, an increase of 16.4% compared to those of the corresponding period in 2021.

From the total number of overnight stays, between January 1 and November 30, 2022, the overnight stays of Romanian tourists in tourist accommodation units accounted for 86.1%, while the overnight stays of foreign tourists registered a percentage of 13.9%.

The average length of stay in the 11 months from 2022 was 2.2 days for both Romanian and foreign tourists. The net occupancy rate for accommodation units was 30.4% of total tourist accommodation structures, up by 3.3 percentage points compared to the similar period in 2021.

The departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at the border checkpoints, totaled 16.059 million people in the first 11 months of 2022, an increase of 48.4% compared to the similar period in 2021.

INS data show that the arrivals registered in tourist accommodation units in November 2022 totaled 817,200, an increase of 51.6% compared to those in November 2021. Of the total number of arrivals, in November 2022, those of Romanian tourists in tourist accommodation units accounted for 84.3%, and the arrivals of foreign tourists 15.7%.

The overnight stays registered in tourist accommodation units in November 2022 totaled 1.652 million, an increase of 55.2% compared to those in November 2021. In the total number of overnight stays, in November 2022, the overnight stays of Romanian tourists in tourist accommodation units accounted for 82.6%, while the overnight stays of foreign tourists were 17.4%.

The arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at the border checkpoints, in November 2022 totaled 949,900 people, an increase of 91.0% compared to November 2021.

The departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at the border checkpoints, in November 2022 totaled 1.322 million people, an increase of 44.3% compared to November 2021.
