Last year in 2022, the most expatriate workers come in Romania from Bangladesh. The number is almost 15000. Nepal and India are holding 2nd and 3rd position respectively. This year 20000+ workers are expected to come from Bangladesh, according to the Embassy of Bangladesh in Bucharest.

In December 2022, the ambassador of Bangladesh in Romania, His Excellency Mr. Daud ALI, said, in an exclusive interview for ecopoliticnews.com, that only at the end of 2020, after reopening the Bangladeshi mission in Romania, only 540 people got work visa. In the next year, this number increased to 2.354. In 2022, until 18th November, the number was 8.064.

„Previously there was a very small number of Bangladeshi people who came here with work visa. But after our arrival this number is increasingly rapidly. As an example, only at the end of 2020, after opening our mission, only 540 people got work visa. In the next year, this number increased to 2.354. This year, until 18th November, the number is 8.064. So now you see how important is the presence of a diplomatic mission. If we are not here, maybe this number could be one or two hundred”, His Excellency Mr. Daud ALI, said.
