Wholesale trade turnover up 22% last year

The wholesale trade turnover (except for the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased last year, in nominal terms, as unadjusted series, by 22pct compared to the previous year, according to the data provided on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Agerpres informs.

The advance recorded in the wholesale trade turnover was generated by the growth of brokerage activities in wholesale trade (+45.7pct), wholesale trade of raw agricultural products and living stock (+36.5pct), specialized wholesale trade of other products (+28.1pct), wholesale trade of other machines, equipment and supplies (+18.2pct), wholesale trade of food products, beverages and tobacco (+16.9pct), trade in non-specialized wholesale (+14.8pct), wholesale of consumer goods, other than food (+13.5pct) and wholesale trade of IT and telecommunications equipment (+12.9pct).

In December 2022 compared to November 2022, the turnover in wholesale trade (except for the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) decreased, in nominal terms, both as unadjusted series by 9.9pct and as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality by 1.9pct.

As unadjusted series, in December 2022, compared to the previous month, trade decreased as a result of the decline in the wholesale trade of raw agricultural products and live animals (-25.1pct), specialized wholesale trade of other products (-23.5pct), non-specialized wholesale trade (-10.1pct), wholesale trade of IT and telecommunications equipment (-9.6%) and wholesale trade of consumer goods, other than food (-4.6%). Increases were recorded in: brokerage activities in wholesale trade (+5.6pct), wholesale trade of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+2.3pct) and wholesale trade of food products, beverages and of tobacco (+0.9pct).

Compared to December 2021, the turnover in wholesale trade (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles), in December 2022, increased, in nominal terms, both as unadjusted series by 11.9pct and as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality by 16.6pct.

The development at an annual rate was determined by the increases in the turnover of: brokerage activities in wholesale trade (+30.1pct), the wholesale trade of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+20.8pct), the wholesale trade of food, beverages and tobacco (+18.2pct), wholesale trade of consumer goods other than food (+13.9pct), wholesale trade of raw agricultural products and living stock (+13.2pct), non-specialized wholesale (+5.2pct) and wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment (+2.1pct). Specialized wholesale of other products decreased by 0.1pct.
