Romania climbs to 13th place in the medal ranking after nine days of competitions at EG2023

Romania climbed to 13th place in the medal ranking at the European Games in Krakow – Malopolska (Poland), on Thursday, after nine days of competitions, write Agerpres.

Romania has a record of 14 medals: five gold, four silver and five bronze.

Gold medals were won by the cyclist Vlad Dascalu in mountain biking, the athlete Claudia Bobocea in 1,500 meters, Bernadette Szocs in table tennis (female singles), Kinga Barabasi (female singles) and Apor Gyorgydeak (male singles) in teqball, silver medals went to the athletes Bianca Ghelber in the hammer throw and Daniela Stanciu in the high jump, Catalin Chirila in the 500 meters single canoe, as well as to fencer Ilinca Pantis in the sword event, while the bronze medals were obtained by karateka Stefan Comanescu in 67 kg category (kumite), athlete Andrea Miklos in 400 m, fencer Malina Calugareanu in foil, pair Ovidiu Ionescu/Bernadette Szocs (mixed doubles) and Elizabeta Samara (female singles) in table tennis.

Romania participates in the European Games in Krakow – Malopolska (June 21-July 2) with 150 athletes (74 women, 76 men) in 18 sports disciplines: athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, judo, kayak-canoe, karate, rugby, ski jumping, diving, fencing, taekwondo, table tennis, teqball, archery, sports shooting, triathlon.
