The photo-documentary exhibition „Merem la America!”, which brings to the public’s attention the history of Romanian migration to the United States of America from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, will open, on Friday, from 12:00, in the Medieval Spaces of the Cotroceni National Museum, write Agerpres.

According to a press release from the Cotroceni Museum sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday, the exhibition tells the story of Romanian emigrants and the first Romanian communities formed on North American territory.

„The socio-professional categories are detailed, the areas from which the Romanians started their journey, the role and presence of the church in the community, the establishment of the first Romanian aid societies, cultural associations, citizens, etc. The information you will find in this exhibition project also includes the reasons for the emigration of Romanians, whether economic, social or political, the new occupations and the forms of socialization,” the quoted source specifies.

An important moment marked by this exhibition is Queen Maria’s trip to the United States of America, from October 18 to November 24, 1926, highlighting the Sovereign’s meetings with the US authorities, visits to Romanian communities, but also the Queen’s impressions of this historic visit, which changed Romania’s image in the eyes of the world’s leaders.
