A numer of 24,609 housing units delivered in H1 2025, according to Statistical Institute

A total of 24,609 new homes were delivered in the first half of 2025, down by 1,327 new homes compared to the same period in 2024, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

By residential area, in the first half of the year, most housing units were delivered in urban areas, accounting for 55.2% of the total. Both the number of housing units built from private funds (-1,270 homes) and the number of those built from public funds decreased (-57 homes), in the first half of 2025.

The regional distribution in the first half of 2025 compared to the first half of last year highlights a decrease in the number of completed housing units in the following development regions: Central region (-575 housing units), West region (-398), Bucharest-Ilfov (-239), South region (-212), South-Muntenia region (-200), South Oltenia region (-140).

In the second quarter of this year, the number of housing units that were delivered was 13,647 housing units, down by 929 housing units compared to the same period in 2024.

By residential area, in the second quarter of the year, most new homes were built in urban areas (52.9%).

According to the INS, the distribution of completed housing units by financing funds reveals that, in the second quarter of 2025, compared to the first quarter of 2024, the number of new homes built both from private funds decreased by 764 housing units and the number of housing units financed from public funds decreased by 165 housing units.

The regional distribution in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year highlights the decrease in the number of completed housing units in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (-896 housing units), Central region (-589), South Oltenia region (-216), West (-55), South Muntenia region (-38) and South region (-32). Increases in the number of completed housing units were recorded in the Northeast (+459 housing units) and Northwest (+438) development regions.
