Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Monday that the government is doing an analysis on the prices of the basic products of Romanian producers.
„At the moment, a very clear analysis is being made with the producers, we are talking about the producers in Romania (…) we do not intervene in the whole chain in any way. We only stick to the basic products,” said Ciolacu at the Social Democratic Party (PSD) headquarters, asked if the limitation of commercial allowance for Romanian products is being considered.
He mentioned that this analysis refers to the final product, regardless of whether domestic or imported raw material is used.
„We are talking about the final product. (…) In France, for example, there was a ceiling on the trade mark-up in supermarkets for domestic products. They don’t enter the chain again, because then they are really right, it would be created big problems in calculations, in the economy. We remain with the basic products, which worked and we will see if there are excesses with very large trade mark-ups to the Romanian products, so that the imported products have a lower price than the products (from Romania – ed.n),” said Ciolacu.
