The interim president of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, highlighted on Monday that in order to reject the censure motion announced by the Alliance for the Union of Romania (AUR), there are enough votes from the governing coalition.
„The coalition has enough votes to reject the censure motion. I don’t think it is possible to discuss an exchange with Save Romania Union (USR) in order to have votes to reject a motion that has no chance of passing anyway,” said Abrudean, on Monday, at the Senate.
Asked if there are National Liberal Party (PNL) MPs who would vote in favor of the motion, Abrudean rejected the hypothesis: „No! Excluded. Some colleagues have gone out in the public space. I don’t think there will be a liberal MP who will vote for a motion of censure”.
Regarding a possible exclusion from the PNL of those who would support the motion, Abrudean said: „It is in the statute and at that time it will be decided, but I don’t think it will be the case”.
The leader of the AUR senators, Petrisor Peiu, declared, last week, that 154 signatures were collected for the submitting a censure motion against the Ciolacu Government, noting that the signatures of the USR MPs are expected until next Wednesday (February 26).
