Air freight transport up 6.1pct January through September

Air freight transport (including mail) increased, in the first nine months of 2024, by 6.1%, compared to the same period of the previous year, from 36,250 tonnes to 38,451 tonnes, according to data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics.

The largest shares in terms of freight transport were recorded at the Henri Coanda Bucharest airports, with 10,500 tonnes of freight loaded and 17,200 tonnes of freight unloaded, Avram Iancu Cluj-Napoca – 2,600 tonnes of freight loaded and 3,000 tonnes of freight unloaded, and Traian Vuia Timisoara, with 2,000 tonnes of freight loaded and 3,200 tonnes of freight unloaded.

In domestic transport, the Henri Coanda Bucharest Airport recorded 22.2% of the total cargo loaded, Avram Iancu Cluj-Napoca, 46.8% and Traian Vuia-Timisoara 31% in total tonnes of cargo loaded.
